Marco Serra, or “Markão” was born in the Brazilian coastal city of Santos and is 50% of the Creative Direction team known as The Markos.
Markão started his career working for local agencies in his hometown, and in 2015 he moved to São Paulo to pursue his goal of working for global brands, something he achieved quickly during his first year in the city. Together with his work partner Marcos Alves “Marquito”, from 2016 to 2019 they led the digital creative account for McDonald’s Latin America, resulting in their first international awards such as the Cannes Lions, Clio Awards, the Brazilian Creative Club and El Ojo de Iberoamerica.
In 2019 he moved with his family and Marquito to Düsseldorf, Germany where the got ranked as one of the world’s Top 10 creative teams in 2021 after winning more than 110 awards at Cannes Lions, D&AD, The One Show, Clio, Eurobest, the New York Festivals, ADC Germany, ADC Europe, LIA and others including a gold Lion, a silver medal at the Young Lions Digital Competition, 4 graphite pencils at D&AD and a Grand Prix for Good at Eurobest.
In 2022 “The Markos” achieved their big dream to change their diet and start having sandwiches for lunch in Amsterdam. They joined Edelman as Creative Directors in 2023 where they are currently leading the Dutch office and working for different clients around the globe.
